ShootOnline Top Spot Tracks Chart

Shoot Online recognized our song "Going Whichever Way the Wind Blows," for its appearance in Toyota's national Sequoia campaign. The song ranked number eight in their "Winter 2008 Top Spot Tracks." We'd like to thank the Academy... our families... Rohan Young and Lime Studios for a killer mix (we like it when the music is loud)... Lance Accord and Park Pictures, Saatchie & Saatchie and all of our friends at HUM. CLICK HERE to see [...]

Lefsetz Likes Me More Than Alicia Keys

I had never heard of Bob Lefsetz or the "Lefsetz Letter" when my email inbox was flooded with messages saying things like, "a million people have probably forwarded this to you already, but in case they haven't, here it is... pretty cool." Turns out (and you probably know this already, but I'll tell you anyway) Mr. Lefsetz is the most famous music industry blogger on the planet. He's been at this for a long time... [...]

Next Best Thing to the Super Bowl

Toyota aired the "Star Party" Sequoia spot several times during the AFC & NFC championships. When I say this is the next best thing to the Superbowl, I am not joking. We were completely blind sided by the response. Song went to #3 on Amazon.com's digital download chart. Album was the #2 Top Seller on CD Baby. And the lyrics from the ad were the #99 Google Top Search Trend. The music from the spot [...]

Blair Witch Toyota Pearl Jam Solo Project

Toyota is using my song "Going Whichever Way the Wind Blows" in a TV spot for it's all-new Sequoia. The spot begins airing today. This song was co-written and co-produced with my partner Elaine Summers. It was originally written for the an independent film that I scored called Tattoo, A Love Story. Then, we expand the song and re-recorded it for my latest album Under the Waves. I'm busy working on Stone Gossard music at [...]

? Degrees of George Clooney

Composed music for two Qwest tv spots this month. Spots wil begin airing in early Jan. The latter of the two was directed by my friend Sam Jones. Sam is very talented, which is fine. What really matters is that he is chummy with George Clooney. I'm not sure if that makes me one or two degrees of Clooney. Either way, it's pretty good. Elaine Summers and I finished tracking and mixing a song called [...]

Quite Ready For Prime-Time

I have begun writing music for another TV ad. Details later. Tonight, my song "Going Whichever Way the Wind Blows" will be featured on ABC's Men In Trees. Check local listings. The Shriner's Hospital commercial that I scored is airing now. Look for an opening shot of a young girl saying "I shouldn't be talking to you." The spot was directed by renaissance man Sam Jones. His book of photographs, The Here and Now is [...]

If It Makes You Happy, Form a Band

OCT 1: My friend Jeff Trott is coming to the Puzzle Tree Studio today. We will work on writing songs together. Some of you may remember Jeff as lead guitarist in my touring band in the mid 90's. Others may know him from Wire Train & World Party. Or for his collaborations with Sheryl Crow. Jeff has co-written and co-produced many of her biggest hits. Sing along: "If It Makes You Happy", "Everyday is a [...]

All You Need Is “Love” In Your Title

The DROGE & SUMMERS record has been bumped again. I have been asked by a very talented director friend (and certified member of the 'in crowd'), to create music for a "very very short film with blatant product placement". Feast of Love opens in theaters on Sept 28. This film from Acadamy Award winning director Robert Benton stars Morgan Freeman and Greg Kinnear and features the title track from my latest album Under the Waves [...]

Who’s In Your Five?

I wrote and recorded music for two national T-Mobile TV spots that are airing now. My song "Under The Waves" and a song I co-wrote and produced for Jaime Wyatt called "Wicked World" are included on the soundtrack album for the film Feast of Love. The album also features tracks by The Frames, Jeff Buckley, Corinne Bailey Rae, M. Ward and more. Album comes out on 8/7/2007. Film opens in Sept. I just completed the [...]
